Dear Dogster reader,
Almost two years ago, we invested numerous resources and rebuilt the Dogster community. With new hardware, software and personnel, we did our best to satisfy the many users who shared their thoughts, pictures, questions, and love for and of their pets with us and friends. It was a thriving community with many users. We hoped, however, there would be more like you.
Times and habits have changed and we are sad to announce that the Dogster community will be closing down on July 20, 2019.
Dogster magazine, www.dogster.com and the associated social media sites are NOT shutting down. We encourage you to continue reading the content found in the pages of the magazine and the web sites, commenting through the mechanisms provided and sharing your ideas and comments with us and your fellow readers.
Instructions for accessing pet profiles were shared with everyone in 2017. The instructions can be found within the forum. AFTER JULY 20TH, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS THIS CONTENT. And, effective immediately, we are no longer able to answer questions about the community.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to serving you through our magazine and website.
Help-doesn\'t like small children
My puppy is almost 5 months old and so far has been really good with people other than the fact that she is super submissive. The problem that has developed recently is that when she is around small children (ages 2-4, hasn't been around babies) she gets nervous exited and then when they try to pet her she snaps at them. Not the grab and hold on sort of bite but a quick snap and let go sort. (she hasn't actually gotton ahold of them but my sis blocked her one time and she caught her sleave). I don't think she is being vicious but I don't know how to make her more relaxed, she is really excitable. The last time it happened I told her "NO!" and jerked her leash and then took her away when she wouldn't calm down and walked her a bit. The lady I got her from has a son that is about 5-6 and was around them a lot and she has no problem with that age and up (she loves to play with my younger cousin). I go out with her a lot and we have gone to some puppy training classes and start basic obedience this weekend (am going to ask the trainer about this too). Sorry this is so long but any advice is appreciated.
