At DrawtheDog.com, cartoonist Jim George just created a new series of breed-specific, color cartoon designs. So far, he has one each for Labs, Danes, Greyhounds and German Shepherds. Now, Jim wants to create a Chihuahua design. He wants to capture the spirit and personality of Chihuahuas, in the same way he did with these: Lab: http://drawthedog.com/?p=280 Golden: http://drawthedog.com/?p=288 Dane: http://drawthedog.com/?p=271 GSD: http://drawthedog.com/?p=286 We would really appreciate your ideas, stories and suggestions - so Jim can create an amazing color cartoon. Here\'s the main question: what does a Chiquaqua do that no other breed does?

Wow, thats a tough question:) Chis can vary widely in personality. My Chi, Princess, is an alarm barker and seems to feel its her job to tell us when someone is coming in the door. She plays with my 20 pound mixed breed fearlessly, steals my husbands chair the minute he gets up, and loves going for drives in the car and in my bike basket. She loves people if they let her approach them first although she does not appear to care for children. She is quiet and well behaved when I take her to dog friendly stores and businesses. I believe in treating her like a dog, not a fashion accesory. She has been taught the same manners as my other dog. She loves to run at the park and once scaled a 2 foot wall there. She is 5 pounds of personality plus. I think the one thing most Chis have in common are that they have huge personalities in tiny bodies. Also, they are people lovers, whether it be only one special person or everybody they meet. You may think you wont like them but once you get to know them they are awesome little dogs;)

I would say that they've got this totally fearless personality. They are ready to challenge anything! even cougars! Foxxy thinks she's a german shepard. She is absolutely not afraid of anything. . .well, except pits and storm drains and cars (thank goodness)

Foxxy, I don't know what you meant by that pit comment but I gotta say, being the owner of a pit bull myself, it was kind of hurtful. :-O Chihuahuas do tend to be fearless. Precious, especially. Out of our chi mixes, she is the most chihuahua. She will charge anything. We have to watch her closely for this reason.

Just speaking from my personal experience with my Chi's, they've all LOVED to be in a lap! Big, charming personalities in small bodies. Every one that I've met has also been great guard dogs, for alerts, that is.....any strange noise and I'm the first to know. And YES, my baby is hairless, so she almost always has clothes on, except for hot days outside with sunblock on and usually in the shade.
