Why are human's best friends destined to live much shorter life?

After all those years I enjoyed having them by my side as best companions in good and bad times, friends who would listen and understand, friends who never let me down, friends whose love are undoubted... the parting is just so bitter and unbearable.

Know one knows... "I FANCIED THAT I HEARD HIM SAY "DEAR LORD THY WILL BE DONE," FOR ALL THE JOYS THIS PUP WILL BRING, THE RISK OF GRIEF WE'LL RUN. WE'LL SHELTER HIM WITH TENDERNESS, WE'LL LOVE HIM WHILE WE MAY, AND FOR THE HAPPINESS WE'VE KNOWN, FOREVER GRATEFUL STAY. BUT SHOULD YOU CALL HIM BACK MUCH SOONER THAN WE'VE PLANNED, WE'LL BRAVE THE BITTER GRIEF THAT COMES AND TRY TO UNDERSTAND. IF BY OUR LOVE WE'VE MANAGED, YOUR WISHES TO ACHIEVE IN MEMORY OF HIM WE LOVED, TO HELP US WHILE WE GRIEVE. WHEN OUR FAITHFUL BUNDLE DEPARTS THIS WORLD OF STRIFE, WE'LL HAVE YET ANOTHER PUP, AND LOVE HIM ALL HIS LIFE." Taken from "Lend a Pup, author unknown

But oh the parting is should not be bitter but bittersweet because the love & memories we hold in our hearts will temper the pain...So long as we remember they never really die...So long as we shed a tear whether in sadness or in happiness & so long as our hearts warm at remembering, their garden in our soul will be nourished & will flourish & thrive.
