I have a 6 month old basset hound puppy who weighs 30 pounds. Is this normal for a puppy her age?

Hi Basset Pet Parent - It depends on the mom and dad bassets... Next time you are at the vet for shots or a check-up ask what he/she thinks... If there is a bunch of fat above the tail, that can mean too plump. The spot where the tail meets the back end. It if feels very fatty on top then your kid may be too plump... Good Luck - Make sure you are feeding a good food and vitamin - here here for more help: http://www.apluspetcare.com/untitled4.html BEST wishes and have fun with your pup Marie

I have two bassets, a petite female who weighed about 25 pounds and a larger boned male who weighed 35 lbs. then. Now, at 14 months, they are 35 pounds and 55 pounds.

It really depends on the dogs... Hunter weighed in at about 45 lbs at 6 months, while my other three where all under 30 lbs at that age. As long as she is not under or over weight then she is probably fine... dogs... even within the same breed grow at different rates.
