My 7 month old australian shepherd acts as though his leash is a tug of war toy, and just will not let go. It is almost impossible to take control of the leash and walk him with it. When he was a younger puppy I had alot of trouble being the pack leader on the leash, he was very stubborn and pulled ahead no matter which technique I used, walks were very frustrating but I tried hard to stay calm and assertive no matter what. I bring him to work with me everyday which is an 800 acre wilderness program for girls, so he gets plenty of exercise running around the woods and trails with me and playing with the other dogs all day. I let him walk without a leash at the camp because he is good about coming when called and usually sticks with me anyway. I acknowledge that I am the reason he regressed on the leash because he runs free at camp and the rules/boundaries for him are alot looser there, so he is probably confused once we get home but I would really like to tighten up keep him on a leash most of the time, and really re-enforce boundaries and make sure I am the leader no matter what. Any advice or help would really be appreciated!
